Board workshop - 15 September 2016
The workshop of the Hunter Local Land Services (HLLS) Board was held in Tocal.
Susan Hooke chaired the meeting. Board members in attendance were Ron Campbell, James Clark, Daryl Dutton, Tony Hegarty and Ted Laurie.
HLLS support staff were also present.
The Board acknowledged that the meeting was held on the lands of the traditional custodians and paid respect to elders past and present.
Financial Sustainability Review
The Board was updated on a range of initiatives to establish a long-term viable organisation at the state and regional level. The Board noted the considerable work required at the state level for the range of decisions which will influence the approach taken within the Hunter region.
2017 Local Rates Financial Modelling
The Board reviewed and discussed options for establishing sustainable rates revenue in the 2017/18 financial year to meet service delivery expectations.
Hexham draft Exit Strategy
The Board were provided with an update to the Hexham Swamp Rehabilitation Project exit strategy. The Board considered options for the future management of Hexham Swamp including vegetation monitoring and on-ground and asset maintenance.
Climate Variability Implementation Strategy
The Board discussed the draft Climate Variability Implementation Strategy and the proposed approach for meeting contractual obligations of the Australian Government. The Board noted the agreement with the Australian Government under the Regional NRM Planning for Climate Change Program committed Hunter LLS to update the regional NRM plan to incorporate climate change mitigation and adaptation components.
The Board were provided with an analysis of the 2016 Aerial Baiting program including options for continuous improvement, at both regional and state levels.
Client Segmentation Approach
The Board were presented with an update on the Customer Segmentation project and discussed the potential benefits of segmentation for increased effectiveness, outcomes and customer satisfaction.
Forward Planner Product
The Board were briefed and provided feedback on development of a communications product to better forecast upcoming events run by Hunter LLS.
The Board discussed the Woodberry Swamp Water Study. The Board noted Hunter LLS had completed its role of enabling landholders and organisations to have access to high quality information on the status and cause of hydrological issues in the area. The Board provided feedback on the future role of Hunter LLS and providing advice on productivity to affected farming areas.
