Board workshop - 16 July 2015

The workshop of the Hunter Local Land Services (HLLS) Board was held in Tocal.

Susan Hooke chaired the meeting. Board members in attendance were Ron Campbell, Ted Laurie, James Clark and Peter Bishop Jnr. Apologies were received from Daryl Dutton and Tony Hegarty.

HLLS support staff were also present.

Organisational Review – Brett Miners, General Manager

The Board are committed to undertaking a review of the business model and organisation structure during 2015/16. The Board was provided an initial briefing and established objectives for the review.

Local Strategic Plan – Karen Fitzherbert, Regional Coordinator

The Board reviewed and agreed on the public consultation process of the Hunter LLS Strategic Plan.

Communications Priorities – Jillian Ayre, Communications Officer

The Board reviewed and provided advice on communication priorities for the Hunter LLS in 2015/16. The Board noted with pleasure the progress made by the Communications Team in improving communications over the past six months.

Storm/Flood Recovery Program – Skye Moore, Flood Recovery Officer

The Board were provided with an overview of activities that have occurred to date and initiatives that are planned, including:

  • Workshops with the community on Category C funding;
  • Improving preparedness of LLS and communities for natural disasters;
  • Increasing resilience of the natural systems;
  • Use of Green Army teams; and
  • Increasing the resilience of industry sectors.

The Board agreed that the outcomes and forward plans for the Flood Recovery program were very pleasing and represented an excellent level of support to affected primary producers.

Community Advisory Groups – Cal Cotter, Manager Land Services

The Board reviewed the operation of Community Advisory Groups over the previous 12 months. The Board provided feedback and direction for Community Advisory Groups in the future.
