Board workshop - 19 May 2016
The workshop of the Hunter Local Land Services (HLLS) Board was held in Tocal.
Susan Hooke chaired the meeting. Board members in attendance were Ron Campbell, Ted Laurie, James Clark, Daryl Dutton and Tony Hegarty. An apology was received from Peter Bishop Jnr.
HLLS support staff were also present.
The Board acknowledged that the meeting was held on the lands of the traditional custodians and paid respect to elders past and present.
Chair update - Susan Hooke
Professor Tim Roberts, Tom Farrell Institute and Darren Bayley, Principal, Tocal Agricultural College provided an update on the status and benefits of Hunter LLS support for Hunter Landcare Scholarships. The board discussed opportunities for strengthening the role of Hunter LLS in training and skill development for rural industries and communities.
The board received a briefing on the current leadership development program being provided for members of the management team and discussed additional priorities for supporting the skills and resilience of all staff.
Flood Recovery, Planning and Resilience Building
The board received a briefing on initiatives to assist landholders recover from the 2015 Super Storm and on initiatives to help landholders and rural communities to be better flood prepared.
Wild Dog management
The board were briefed on the recent review of the pilot trapper program in the Upper Hunter. The board discussed information sources to be used in developing high quality spatial products to assist in wild dog management within the region. The board requested a briefing on initiatives to improve the consistency and quality of trapper support to landholders experiencing wild dog attacks.
