Board workshop - 21 July 2016
The workshop of the Hunter Local Land Services (HLLS) Board was held in Tocal.
Susan Hooke chaired the meeting. Board members in attendance were Ron Campbell, Ted Laurie and James Clark. Apologies were received from Daryl Dutton and Tony Hegarty.
HLLS support staff were also present.
The Board acknowledged that the meeting was held on the lands of the traditional custodians and paid respect to elders past and present.
Financial Sustainability Review
The Board was provided an update on progress towards milestones, at the state and regional level, for ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of the organisation. The Board was briefed on development of a preferred management structure, based on learnings from the past two and a half years of operation of LLS.
The Board was briefed on development of a Hunter LLS accommodation strategy to support implementation of the Strategic Plan, achieve cost savings and comply with NSW government accommodation requirements.
Government Sector Employment (GSE) Act
The Board was briefed by Shelley John, Manager, Organisational Performance, on implications of the GSE Act for achieving a long-term sustainable organisation.
2015/16 Preliminary Financial result
The Board were briefed on the Hunter LLS preliminary financial result for 2015/16.
Communications and Engagement Implementation
The Board were provided with the draft Implementation Strategy outlining Hunter Local Land Services strategy and approach in relation to its activities in communications and engagement for all service delivery programs to ensure consistent, effective and appropriate approaches to communications and engagement activities across the organisation.
Agricultural Extension/Advisory Implementation
The Board were provided with the Agricultural Extension and Advisory Implementation Strategy drafted to define Hunter LLS’ approach in service delivery to support the growth of individual enterprises and improvement of natural resources and contributing to more productive and sustainable regional agricultural industries.
Service Delivery Planning
The Board was provided with a presentation on current practice in service delivery planning, evaluation, reporting and improvement. The Board provided feedback on priority areas for strengthening the evaluation and improvement approach by Hunter LLS.
