Board meeting - 10 December 2014
The seventh meeting of the Hunter Local Land Services (HLLS) Board was held in Scone. This was a half day meeting to accommodate the first meeting of the Upper Hunter Community Advisory Group in the afternoon.
Susan Hooke chaired the meeting. Board members in attendance were Ron Campbell, Daryl Dutton, Peter Bishop Jnr and James Clark. Apologies were received from Ted Laurie and Tony Hegarty.
HLLS support staff were also present.
TSR's Long Term Grazing Permits
The statewide process for valuation of reserves is now mostly concluded. In the Hunter region the lease tenders have been received and assessed for reserves in the Merriwa area and recommendations are currently being prepared. Staff reported that the use of the electronic tender approach has drawn mixed responses.
Weed Reform Process
The Board discussed the current weed reform process and noted there will be opportunities for Hunter region to contribute to successful implementation of the weed reform process in NSW. The Board discussed the importance of building on weed management arrangements that are currently working effectively.
The Board was briefed on arrangements for administrative delegations that are required for biosecurity staff to operate under a range of legislation.
- The Board reviewed and approved the reports from the General Manager which included implementation progress and planned activities/issues across business areas of biosecurity, natural resource management, agricultural extension and emergency management.
- The Board reviewed and approved the Business and Finance report which includes budget, financial statements, business systems, human resources and fleet information.
- The Board reviewed and approved the Work Health and Safety report.
- The Board received the report from the Audit and Risk Committee.
