Time is running out to enrol to vote in the 2017 Local Land Services elections

Local Land Services ratepayers are being urged to enrol to vote in this year’s elections on 31 May.

Ratepayers in the Hunter region will vote to elect three local board members on the local board.

Hunter Local Land Services supports farmers and other land managers to increase the productivity of agriculture in the region and to sustain healthy landscapes.

If you pay Local Land Services rates, you’re eligible to vote.

Hunter Local Land Services General Manager, Brett Miners said one ratepayer from each holding could vote in the May elections, but they must enrol first to receive ballot papers at election time.

“Time is running out to enrol to vote in the 2017 elections with the electoral roll closing on Friday 31 March,” Mr Miners said.

“We’re focused on making this process as easy as possible for ratepayers. An enrolment form was recently posted to all ratepayers to complete and return. This can be done by post or by dropping in at your nearest Local Land Services office, and you can also now enrol online."

If you have already enrolled to vote in Local Land Services elections, you do not need to enrol again.

“All ratepayers who enrol by 31 March will receive voting instructions, via email for online voting or a postal ballot pack for those without email.”

Those receiving email voting instructions can also request to receive postal ballot papers.

Mr Miners said it was an exciting time for Hunter Local Land Services and 2017 would bring with it refreshed local boards who would lead the organisation to deliver the objectives of the Hunter Local Strategic Plan.

“We are also calling for candidate nominations, which close at 12 pm on 10 April,” Mr Miners said.

Information about enrolling, nominating and voting is available from, or by contacting your nearest Local Land Services office.
